LITTLE BERRY STONE was born 1817-1818 in Tennessee or Alabama, and died May 29, 1863 in Limestone, Arkansas.  He married ARSENETTE Bef 1850 in Tennessee. She was born Bet. 1825-1826 in Tennessee, and died Bet. 1880-1900 in Arkansas.

Grandmother: Elizabeth Ladd

 

Notes

Berry's occupation was listed in 1850 as a gatekeeper for a Turnpike in Grundy Co. Tenn.

Berry was taken prisoner by Confederate Troops and hung by them on May 29th 1863, along with David Flood and James Smith of the 1st Arkansas Infantry, Company F, Union Forces. Berry Stone was not a soldier in the war. It is believed that he was hiding his neighbors, David Flood and James Smith and was hung for doing so.

                     ii. JOHN STONE, b. 1849, Tennessee; m. SARAH ESSEX, November 12, 1868, Newton, Arkansas.

                     iii.NOBLE L STONE, b. December 1853, Tennessee; d. November 1920, Oklahoma; m. ALCEY BARBER, January 29, 1877 in Newton Co.,  Arkansas.

                     iv.SARAH E. STONE, b. 1857.

1863 Newton County Arkansas;

                         Berry Stone is listed in depositions as being hung by Confederate Troops.
